I have a story to share with you about workplace safety that I think you’ll want to hear.
Just the other day, my neighbor was working in a facility when he came across an alarming sight. Damaged extension cords were lying in water on the floor, and to move from one area to another, he had to walk through the danger zone.
When he brought this to the attention of the plant engineer, he was met with an unprofessional and dismissive response.
It didn’t stop there. As my neighbor was leaving the site, he learned that a gantry crane had just hit some scaffolding. The scaffold had been hidden behind a large piece of equipment, causing the crane operator to miss it entirely and leading to a potentially disastrous situation for anyone nearby.
It’s stories like this that really drive home the importance of a positive safety attitude in the workplace. Even luck can only go so far when it comes to avoiding accidents.
When employees and management take safety seriously, it reduces the chances of injury or damage to equipment. So, let’s all strive to maintain a positive outlook when it comes to safety.
Remember, attitude is 9 tenths of what makes a safe worksite and without it, the consequences can be dire.
