The Summer Heat is Turning Up! Are You Ready?

As the mercury rises, protecting workers from heat-related illnesses is critical.

Employers can safeguard their workforce by implementing essential measures that are fundamental steps in preventing heat illness:

  • Providing frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
  • Supplying ample cool drinking water
  • Encouraging the wearing of lightweight, breathable clothing

It is important to make sure that employees are educated on the signs of heat stress and the importance of acclimatization to hot conditions is crucial.

OWYN Safety offers Heat Illness Prevention online training courses available in English & Spanish (also available for California – Indoor/Outdoor & Washington) that can be taken individually or in a classroom presentation format.

Also available is our Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke Safety Meeting/Toolbox Talks/Tailgate Meeting that can be located by going to Online Training > Training Resources > Safety Meetings from within the Dashboard.

By prioritizing worker safety, employers can mitigate the risk of heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, ensuring a healthy and productive workforce during the scorching summer months.

Make sure to log into the Safety Management Dashboard to find more available resources regarding Heat Illness Prevention available in your Federal, State, Site Specific and Third Party Compliance Safety Manuals.
