Let’s Think About This

Making money is important if a company is going to stay in business and provide their employees a place to work.

So, it makes since that a company should always be looking for ways to get more work, reduce costs, and improve production – right?

Then why is it that companies often see implementing a company safety program as more of something they will get to if they have time rather than a requirement of doing business?

Could it be that that they see the process more as another cost rather than what it really is?

Let’s think about this.

When implemented properly, a company safety program helps to protect three of your company’s greatest assets – Employees, Reputation and Profits.

So, when it comes to getting more work, your company’s reputation is important.  A serious accident can have a detrimental effect on your company reputation and OSHA citations, since they are a public record on OSHA’s site, can keep you off bidders lists.

The cost of an accident, insurance costs, Workers Compensation costs, lost work time and the hassles of trying to get back on track are high. Let’s face it, they don’t help reduce costs.

And how can you improve or even maintain a productive site or company if even one of your employees is seriously injured?  We all know how difficult it is to find help today, let alone good skilled employees.

In short, by prioritizing safety, employees can feel more secure and valued, which can boost morale and lead to a more engaged and motivated workforce. This can ultimately lead to increased productivity and better business outcomes.

What other business change could you ever make that provides so much value, protecting your most valuable assets – Employees, Reputation and Profits.  I believe you would be hard pressed to find even one.
