Last week was the 1st in a 2 part series on developing your company safety program. If you missed it and would like to check it out: Click Here.

For those of you who had a chance to read it, I hope you found the information helpful.

Today we’re going to talk about what you can do to make sure the safety program you develop will work for everyone in your company. If it’s not right for everyone, implementing your safety program will never work.Trust me on this . . . I’ve seen it happen more often than I care to say.

As I said in the last QuickTip, if you think this QuickTip might not be worth reviewing with your employees, you need to keep in mind that a company safety program is about protecting employees from workplace hazards, so getting everyone involved in the development process helps to ensure you have all the bases covered.

When it comes to workplace safety and compliance, we often make it more difficult than it needs to be, but it doesn’t need to be that way at all. In fact, OSHA has broken it down into 4 basic requirements that really simplifies the process.

Here are the 4 requirements your company must meet to comply with OSHA’s regulations. You must:

  1. Establish safety policies and procedures
  2. Effectively communicate your policies and procedures on safety (provide training)
  3. Perform regular and frequent worksite safety inspections
  4. Enforce safety with your employees

You must meet ALL 4 of the requirements, not just some of them, to comply with OSHA regulations. As OSHA would say, “IT’S THE LAW.”

Here are some questions and explanations that will help you in the process of finding the right solution to developing a safety program for your company.
